THE STUDENT EXPERIENCE

Participating at a Model United Nations or Model Congress conference will expose you to situations that will require your serious consideration. It’s more than make-believe: at an IDIA Model UN or Model Congress conference, you will be called upon by your peers to help develop innovative and meaningful solutions to some of today's most pressing problems. Whether you are considering Social Security reform in the US or debt forgiveness programs for Africa, you will develop an understanding of the complexities of leading a diverse nation or an organization such as the United Nations. And you will learn how to anticipate the outcomes caused by your decisions.

BUILDING SKILLS FOR YOUR FUTURE - AND OURS

If this seems like a lot of work, it is. But it is among the most rewarding work you will ever do. You will learn about issues that you likely have never considered. You will develop a perspective of the world that is your own, and did not come from a textbook or from your teacher. You will meet peers from across the country and around the world and will develop meaningful friendships that will last for years to come. Most importantly, you will be the one in charge of your own education. You will choose the issues most interesting to you, and you will decide how best to prepare for what promises to be a weekend of excitement and enrichment.

GETTING PREPARED

In addition to our conferences, IDIA powers ModelUN.com, a one-stop shop for content and learning resources about all things Model UN and Model Congress. There are also plenty of sites, blogs, and videos all over the internet produced by your peers in the Model UN world.

START YOUR ON MODEL UN CLUB

It can be challenging to get started with Model UN and Model Congress, if your high school doesn’t already have a club - but that’s where we can help. If you’re in the NY/NJ/PA tri-state area, IDIA’s corps of undergraduate college volunteers can coordinate a training program for you, your classmates, and your teacher.

If you’re located farther away, IDIA can coordinate a remote training session, as well as provide learning materials including topic briefs and delegate guides from real Model UN conferences that you can use for training purposes.

For assistance with starting your own Model UN club, or to help get your school involved with IDIA conferences, email info@idia.net.

IDIA welcomes all high school and middle school students to our programs.
